Hmmm let's see...

Ok, so I haven't really done much of anything at all since Sat... like no really.

Sunday I stayed in the bed all day, by choice, and watched 10 hours of Alias, my new addiction!

Monday, I worked a double so Mel could go and hang out with her friend. But, I had lunch with Conor, so that was nice. And then after I got off work, I went home and watched 2 episodes of Alias and went to bed

Tuesday I worked a normal 10 hour day and then went out and had drinks at the heights with Lisa the hotness... that was pretty sweet, she is freakin awesome!!

So yeah, other than that, nothing to really write home about... just kinda taking it easy this week. But my family is coming TOMORROW MORNING. I am so super stoked about that!! Other than that, just some clever randomness here and there.

Nkosi zitha Nkosi yethu Mholi wezwe lethu

So after a HORRIBLE day yesterday. I was just NOT a good day all around. There is so much going on with work, and here, and stuff at home... i kinda reached an AAAGHHHH point! So mel and I spent the day together today. We went and got breakfast and then met up with this guy and his little sister... SO CUTE
So this afternoon I got to see a musical that I have been trying for YEARS to go see....

LION KING ON BROADWAY!!!

It was a religious experience!! It was just so amazing and probably the best musical I have seen. There was so much going on it and so elaborate. I can def see now why it won 6 tony's.
And now i'm getting ready for a... well... party... but yeah... inquire later.

So many birthdays this summer

There are so many people that are having birthdays this month. The Best Black Girl in NY - Desi's birthday was last night - so it was Heather, Mel, Desi, and Me - and we just went to the Heights (Surprise, right?) and there were shots all over the place. It was pretty crowded, and the hot guy that lives across the hall... PS - Nigel wants him!!!! ;-) and then Nigel showed up and Lisa came IT WAS GREAT!! Oh, and Conor's ex, Paul was there - ask me about the story later... it's not bad, just interesting. But after drinking a good amount and having fun... it was bed time!

HAPPY BIRTHDAY DESI!

Not really much to report -

This week has been pretty slow so far. Not really much to report. Columbia University's Conference Housing has really picked up quit a bit for me. One of my biggest projects for the summer starts checking in on Sunday. Only 80 of them though (600 more on the 4th of July, boo). But other than work... just the usual - after work, going to the heights with the roommate! I have also been spending a good about of time with Kristina, Nicole, and Mel. I love these girls so much. They have made me feel so welcome so many times and have always included me in the activities. LOVE YOU GUYS, THANKS SO MUCH! :-)

the weekend

Just a few positive stories to tell about the weekend...

Friday night we went to some bar... don't know what it was called. It was a good music and great company: Kristina, Nicole, LJ, Mel, Erin, Erin, Susan, Bri, and Conor. We did some dancing and drinking and went home, that really was about it.

Saturday I was SO bored during the day. I was NOT going to sit in my room all day, I hate sitting in my room. There are clothes in the closet, sheets on the bed, and a computer on the desk. That's about the gist of what I'm working with. So I decided I was going to go shopping...yeah! So I went allll down 34th, Sacks, Steve Madden, little shops along 5th ave., and H&M (surprise surprise). Well I bought some new shoes and some clothes... yada yada. And when I was in H&M I had something very interesting happen... ya know, it amazes me sometimes how some people have no shame and just how OPEN NYers are....So I'm walking around H&M on 5th, minding my own... doing some shopping... just browsing around. And I notice after a while that this one guys keeps showing up around the same area I am and keeps looking at me. OK, but those of you that know me... know that I don’t respond to that and I could really care less. I mean he was relatively cute... but I was just like whatever and went upstairs to look at some stuff there. Well I wasn't really paying attention at all anymore and saw this really cute shirt in a corner section of the store and went to check it out. Well I was standing there looking at sizes and all of a sudden.... I feel a hand touch my ASS!! I turned around with a quickness... and it was that guy. I looked at him in SHOCK and said "Excuse me, umm no!" And walked out of the store! Y'ALL WHO DOES THAT!!!! NO shame I tell you, none at all!!!! The evening was pretty cool. We went to this club called Crowbar. It was Kristina, Nicole, Erin, LJ, Susan, and Conor. And Nicole knew this guy that did some publicity thing or something so we were treated like VIP's - totally sweet! We got to jump to the front of the huge line and get in free, holler for no cover! The place was pretty sweet inside. The first room was kinda small, but played good music and had bar in the middle of it and the dance floor was around the bar. Then you went through these double doors in the back to a huge room with techno (yuck) and a stage and an upper floor for VIPs. Then to the left was tunnel that let you to under the first section where there was another room... this was an insane place. It was cool though. The only not cool part - $12 drinks - RUDE LA-HUDE!!! Then about 3am we just went home...

And here I am, sunday... bored out of my mind... again. But my roomie came back recently, so him and I are going to go and see Mr. & Mrs. Smith... YES!

HOLY SHIT!!!! I SHOULD NOT BE ALIVE!!!

Alcohol is VERY VERY VERY VERY BAD!!!!!
So let me tell you what happened to me last night...

I went home yesterday evening after I got off of work and took a little nap. Well around 8:00 -ish Bri calls me and says lets get a drink... SURE! No problem!

Well we met up around Columbus circle and looked for a bar to just have a drink in... didn't really see any. We walked to Time Square and took the subway downtown to Bleeker St. We walked down Bleeker to the hot bar spots to OFF THE WAGON. We went there for Bri's birthday. It's a really cool atmosphere. And it was ladies night and Bri could get any drink that she wanted for $2 (PS - where is mine? I don’t see signs in ANY bars say "Guys' Night" BOO! HAHA) I had 3 tequila sunrises and Bri did too. I also ordered wings b/c I hadn't had dinner yet, they were deel-ie. And then this waitress came over to us and asked us if we wanted to try a free shot of Jim Bean and Apple Pucker - it was a promotion they were doing. So already I had all that... but by that time I was only slightly buzzing. Bri and I then decided that we wanted to change locations, so we did. We walked up the street to "1849" - another place we went to for Bri's birthday. There wasn't much going on there, so we decided to leave. Bri had been to a bar, I don't remember the name. All I know is it was off 19th and Lexington... so we walked... I walk EVERYWHERE; I swear I am going to have the best legs at the end of the summer. We got there and met these 4 guys that were there. That’s when things start to get fuzzy... I know that I bought 3 vodka and cranberries and then one of the guys bought Bri and me our drinks. I know that he bought me 2 and then he bought 2(maybe 3) rounds of shots for all 6 of us. They were all celebrating b/c of the guys had just proposed to his girlfriend or something? I don't really remember. Well I think it was around 2 am and I was like... I have to go. AND THAT'S WHEN IT JUST WENT BAD! So I left Bri and got on the Subway - I had NO idea where the subway was, and I don't really remember how I got on it... but I do remember seeing the uptown train station. I honestly don't remember a lot of that part of the night. So yeah, drunk me walking around NY! HAHA.... WELL I finally got on the train after vomiting in the trashcan before getting on. The train was doing its thing and I remember there being a good number of people on the train at whatever time it was... late. And then it hit me... I AM going to be sick, and the train was still moving. I was like SHIT!!! So I take off my CUTE BANANA REPBULIC STRIPED POLO... and put it over my mouth and THREW UP all in it!!! After being mortified and embarrassed to NO END I got off on the next stop, which was 66th street. I threw up again in the first trash can I found. I have no idea why... but I thought, I can't ride a train, I’m getting sick. SO IIIIIII thought it was a GENIOUS idea to WALK HOME! OK - I was at 66th street, I live at 116th - that’s 50 BLOCKS!!! That’s 2.5 MILES! So here I am... like around 3am, maybe... I never looked at the time... WALKING 2.5 MILES UPTOWN HOME, holding a shirt COVERED in my own vomit. But no... wait there's mooooore. I thought it would be a fantabulous idea to CALL my mother (whose birthday is today) and wish her a Happy Birthday!! Then I called Conor, and Sarah, and a couple others... I only know this b/c I checked my phone and saw that I called these people... I have NO recollection of calling anyone or what I said! Then when I FINALLY got to around 113th street, covered in sweat and hot and STILL ALIVE, I'm walking and I'm in the home stretch... I hear 2 male voices very aggressively (well in my drunken state, it sounded aggressive) Say "EXCUSE ME SIR" and ignored it... one said it again, but louder... then another screamed it, "EXCUSE ME SIR." By that time, I could see 114th street, that’s where Carmen Hall is located (that's where I work). So I TOOK OFF in a MAD DASH - I don't think I've ever run that fast in my freakin life! I ran right into Carmen Hall, NEVER once looking back. I waited in the lobby area to see if anyone was behind me... but no one ever came. Then I remember RUNNING my ass to East Campus, where I live. I don't remember much more after that. Don't remember going to bed or anything. But I got up, SOMEHOW at 7:30 and showered and got ready for work. Now I don't really remember getting ready this morning b/c I was VERY HUNG over, like whoa. And STILL VERY DRUNK. The day has been going so slow. But my head ache is gone and I think I’m done getting sick. Y'ALL.... I am SO ASHAMED of myself and THANKFUL to be alive - REALLY - White Kid living in Harlem - Yeah that’s me! What the hell was I thinking...? I just... hmm... wow... really... i don't know what I was thinking.

But yeah, that was my INSANE night last night... from what I can remember!
CJ is such a cool boss. I love him He might not see this post. shh

Museum Mile

Today was pretty low key. I only worked from 8-5 today; i just wouldn't bear to make myself work another 12-14 hour day today. Not after this past weekend! But I came home and just kinda laid on the bed to chill out and relax a second. Well that turned into an hour nap. I woke up and just really wanted to do something. I called Bri and she was just really kinda tired, she had a long day ;-). So i signed on and just kinda asked around to see what everyone was doing for dinner. Then I imed Stephanie and she told me that she was going to Museum Mile and that it was starting like right then. She asked me if I wanted to go and showed me the website... HELL YEAH. It was SO MUCH FUN! Stephanie and I lost each other on the subway at 96th. It was just really funny. She thought I got on the subway to go back uptown on the local train. (we were suppose to be going on the express train back uptown to central park north). Well she got on the train, and I didn't. I waited for her to come back for a few trains... then i just got on the express train and went back up town. I tracked her cell down and FINALLY got a hold of her, and we met up. It was just really funny. Then we walked down to 105th st where all the crazy museum fun was going on. There were 9 museums open to the public. We only went to three... but it was nice to be in the AC b/c it was SO HOT. The one that I really wanted to see was at the MET. There is this exhibit made by Chanel. It was really freakin awesome. It was a exhibit that displayed all of her clothes (the really expensive ones) through out Miss CoCo Chanel's history and her jewelry and quotes all over the wall. It was set up really really really well. I was really impressed.

http://www.ny.com/museums/mile.html

Then we went down town to get some dinner... but that didn't really work out as well as we planned. Nothing was open and we couldn't decide on anything. HAHA. So then we just went back up town and ate at Ollies. Then I went home and the rest of the night was absolute crap. But that’s about it. New Day tomorrow

106.7

So there is this radio station kinda like 99.5 WMAG back home, but way better and NO Delilah. It is called lite 106.7. IT IS FREAKIN' SWEET! It’s just a really nice and light station here in NY that everyone can enjoy something. They play a lot of 80's music... so we jam out like something hard core everyday at the desk. And one of the best things is, they stream on the radio!! It's great. Everyone thinks it's like THE station... I strongly encourage you to check it out

Nothing Like a Day off!!!

So yesterday I took OFF. IT WAS GREAT!! I didn't wake up until 11:00. I got really really cute today, I wore my "I do my own nude scenes" shirt...but added a little bit to the outfit... it was SO CUTE! I got the most responses from it on the subway (HAHAHAHAHA) it was funny, ya had to be there.

After getting ready, I walked Conor down to his car b/c he had to go home and do stuff at the beach house. It was SAD times to see him leave, b/c i got to spend like NO time with him this weekend b/c he went away. But it's all good... I’m sure we'll hang out some this coming weekend. After he left, I met up with Mel, Nicole, and Kristina to go to lunch at Nacho's Kitchen... Mexican! Mel was having a stressful day, so after lunch i went over to Hartly and helped her finish some "must be done today" work and made her come with me downtown. We shopped like it was our FUCKING job.... and bought nothing! LOL! I did however; buy more stuff at H&M - Go figure. That place is like heroine to me! I MUST HAVE IT!!!!!!! I didn't spend that much there this time though. ;-) Mel and I went all around Mid-town and came back around 5:00. The humidity in NY right now, is NOT OK. I looked at the weather online, and the temp is 88 degrees and the humidity is 99% - DAMN GINA!! IT'S HOT!!! Mel and I got on the subway at 34th street and it was sunny. We got off the subway at 116th... it was raining... not raining, PORING, like cats and dogs and mice and fish and lemurs (I like lemurs). By the time we walked ONE BLOCK to where we lived, it looked like we had just gone swimming in our clothes... NO JOKE! Then I bummed around the room for a bit and went to dinner with Nigel at this cute little Mexican place... CHEAP AND BIG! They were so cheap and gave TONS of food. It was a Mexican kinda day. After dinner, I went home and PASSED OUT and was asleep by 9:00 and woke up at 7 - GOOD NIGHT FOLKS, HAHAHA!

Stupid Alumni and Others

OK, so today was off the way not ok kinda busy. I had so many people bitch me out about the dumbest shit. But you know what, all you can do is apologize smile and accommodate where possible. And the rest can go to hell :-D RIGHT JEN? HAHAHA. Anywho... today marks 93.5 hours worked, in seven days!!!! LIKE WHOA!!! Y'all - I am super ridiculously tired. Like not ok tired. I have had NO sleep and I work 12-14 hours a day. There are 10 conferences here right now, adding up to like 1500 people, I don't know... I’m guessing... TOO MANY. But seriously though, I really don't mind b/c I really am having an awesome time and it is an AWESOME experience. On top of that, I get to spend time with my awesome staff!!! THEY ALL ROCK MY SOCKS LIKE SOMETHING HARD CORE! ANYWAY, I've just kinda taken over the world with this conference front desk b/c we have so much going on, we need some consistency and organization... ya know? So now it's all good. After I finally closed the office around 10pm, I went STRAIGHT home and did NOTHING! I unpacked some of my shit and cleaned up my room b/c I haven’t been home in like 3 days. Conor Just called and he is on his way over to see me, they just got back from Maryland from their fun trip. So I'm probably going to hang out with him for a while and PASS THE FUCK OUT!!! I am sleeping in tomorrow b/c I have the day OFF! wonder what I'll do?

Bar Hop Take 2 ::CLAP::

After working another 6548299673412116655 hour day on Saturday, I was sooooo ready to pass out at 10:30 when I crawled into bed. The funny thing is, it wasn't my bed. for the past three nights, I have stayed in Carmen Hall because there are so many people staying here and so many conferences here that it was just easier for me to sleep in the building were headquarters are located.

The Alumni totally DRIVE ME NUTS! - Although, there were a good number of people there were really sweet and really nice. A lot of them gave me presents. IT WAS FUN! There was this one couple (class of '55) that studied graphology. They made me write "Today is a good day for fishing," my name, and a capital I all in cursive. They then took these things and analyzed my personality and all kinds of stuff about me based on the way that I write. I went into this with the "are you serious, good luck with that" attitude. YOU GUYS - THEY TOTALLY CALLED ME OUT. Pinned my personality to a T and knew SO much about me, even stuff from my past... JUST FROM THE WAY I RIGHT. It was CREEPY!!!!!!! YIKES!!!!

Anywho - I was in bed and i had JUST closed my eyes... and my phone rings. It was Bri. She was like, what are you doing...laying in bed. Then she was like well GET UP we're coming up! I was like... omg... OK... I hadn't slept in a really long time. But what the hell right?!?! So I got up and took Bri and some of the people to the Heights (the local hot spot around Columbia) The heights is like the best place ever. I've met the owner and he is SO NEW YORK. He's a really cool guy. And I've also met several of the bar tenders. My absolute favorite works on Sat nights, her name is Jo and she is fucking awesome blossom!!! We spent some time there and then I took Bri to Nacho's Kitchen and had a drink there, then we went to Suite and had a drink there and saw a OVERLY DRAMATIC drag queen (if that is possible). I was also hit on by a really OLD SCARY looking man. So after that, I bounced outta there... SCAAARY. We went to duaine Read and then back to the Heights. Come 2am I had to GO.... I had to get up at 8am again, so sleep was vital, but not happening.

HAPPY BIRTHDAY BRI!!!!!

On Friday, my GIRL Bri turned 21!!! And let me tell you it was CRAAAAAZY FUN!!! I had another long day at work b/c the Columbia Alumni were here and they are the most demanding group in the world. They think they are staying at the Waldorf and they want everything done their way and expect it to be 5 star status - news flash - it's a residence hall! Thanks for playing.

ANYWAY - after I had a quick dinner and briefly saw Conor before he left for Maryland to go to a graduation party, I went downtown to join in the festivities.

I met up with Bri and some people that she lives with at the App Loft at this really interesting bar... "1869" but it was pretty interesting. She had met this guy there, his name was Chris. he was really nice and DAMN CUTE. He was in the military and his shoulders were like the size of THREE of me, HUGE! Him and Bri actually looked really cute standing next to each other. But he was really nice, b/c he bought all of Bri's drinks and most of mine... how nice, right? Well we stayed there for about an hour, then we changed locations to "Off the Wagon" Yet another bar that was interesting... very country western-ish. Well they were playing really cool music, so we had like one drink and danced around and sang out loud at the top of our lungs... hahaha! After about 30-45 min we moved locations again to a bar called "Manahatta." We took a cab b/c Bri was... well... it was her birthday. We walked in, and it looked just like a place you would see in Sex and the City, very very swanky. I looked at the drink list - $15 - umm no... I was like you guys, i am NOT buying drinks here. A Corona cost $6. YIKES! But Ryan said there was a dance floor downstairs. OH OK! We were so in the mood to dance. I walked down stairs and it was totally wicked! They played kick ass music all night and it was dark with different colored lights on a disco ball. It made me feel kinda high class. I wasn't still wasn't buying drinks there though, haha. Well we danced and danced and danced, and drank... lol... you know, the usual. Well it was 4:00 am... it was time for me to GO HOME. I had to be to work at 8:00am the next day. It took me FOREVER to get home (over an hour) b/c I took the subway - it took FOREVER!!! YIKES But it was totally awesome night and tons of fun!!! Needless to say, i hated my life the next day b/c i didn't get home until after 5am, but it was still GREAT!!

HAPPY BIRTHDAY BRI!!!!

Birthday Shenanigans

So after an insanely LOOOOONG work day on Wednesday, It was Erin and Vanessa’s Birthday. (She works with me) So like everyone and their brother met up at Nacho's Kitchen for drinks. Lets see if I can remember everyone that was there... Nigel, Kristina, Erin, Nicole, Mel, Sven, Vanessa, Stephanie, Bobbie, Lindsay, Eric, and Jennifer - my boss. (If I forgot someone...totally sorry, you KNOW i luv ya fo sho!) It was really funny to drink with my boss. The people I work with are awesome blossom! Well after a while... we were all very much on the drunk side. Nothing like $3 margaritas, right? I remember giving out some lap dances in the restaurant, big surprise right?

Again, I can't really remember about much that happened that day. It was a crazy week with all the working and what not.

But I do remember having some fun outside of work somewhere in there ;-)

BBQ

So my roommate and I went to this place downtown called Dallas BBQ. And on the menu was "Carolina BBQ" and i just wanted to get it to see how close to Carolina BBQ it really was. I wanted to see which kind they thought was Carolina BBQ, but i didn't b/c i don't like BBQ. However, the interesting thing was their choices of sides...? The choices were Fries, Baked Potato, or Rice. OK, now for all my NC people... you KNOW that these are NOT what you serve with BBQ! HAHAHA... it's coleslaw and hush puppies, that’s IT! RIGHT?!?! ;-) sorry NY, close but no cigar! But it was really good and the drinks were deel-ie!!!! After dinner Nigel and I went down to 21st and 8th Ave to the biggest Sex Shop I have EVER SEEN called "The Blue Store!" It was FREAKIN HALARIOUS!!! Now for all my Boone people, take expressions' "back room" and multiply it by 20 and add a LOT more movies (about 3/4th gay) and a more eclectic mix of "sex toys" and "clothing" - but who the hell pays $50 for a porno - NEGATORY. I also noticed toward the back of the room was a dark hallway with a sign above it that said "Peep Shows." I immediately thought, OMG! The whole time we were in there i saw a lot of people go in and different people come out. It was... interesting. Nigel and I wanted to explore just to see what was behind the mysterious line... but i was TOO SCARED. Y'ALL - YOU KNOW PEOPLE WERE IN THERE HAVING SEX AND I DID NOT WANT TO PARTAKE!!! HAHAHAHAHAHAHAHA And then Nigel and I were standing near it and i was looking at it, and this one guy came up to us and said "Honey, you know you want to go back there, go 'head and take a look." YIKES!!!! Something else that was REALLY funny about this place - they had a small wall where you could purchase real movies, but only on VHS. HILLIE!

I have no conception of time in NY

I don't know if it's the fact that work 239872385717678712356 hours a week or if it's just NY... but the time is FLYING BY ME! I totally realized that I hadn't talked to or seen Bri in FOREVER, so her and I met up for dinner on Tuesday. We also met up with Erin, who is a girl that we know who graduated from App that worked at the loft last summer doing an internship that now lives in NY and yeah...lol... anyway.. she came with us! We went to dinner at Ollies around Columbus Circle around 61st and Broadway. After dinner we went to do a little bit of shopping off 59th and Lexington... I HAAAAAAD to go to H&M. You people just don't seem to understand my addiction to that store. The clothes ROCK MY SOCKS and they are NOT expensive!! IT'S GREAT. But I bought more dress clothes, b/c i needed them. I have to dress up for work EVERYDAY, and I am running out of ideas and wardrobe... so what do we do... buy more!!! :-D Who needs laundry... right... not me! After that, i headed back up town and went home.... to be honest, it's been such a long time, i really don't remember what I did that night, but I am sure it involved alcohol! HAHAHA

CrAzY DaYs and Bad Drag Queens!

OK, so I know I suck hard core for not updating the blog. So, I'm sorry to all of you that keep asking me about it, I've been working A LOT! From Sunday May, 29th to Sunday, June 5th I will have worked 93 hours! So needless to say I've not really been in front of the computer with a free moment in a while.... so with that said - UPDATES:

So on Sunday, it was really sad... I had to be to work at 8am, so Conor woke up all early and everything to say goodbye to me before he left to go back home. So watching him walk away after a FANOMINAL weekend was just really hard for me to cope with! It's ok though b/c I get to see him on Friday. He's just one of those guys that makes you happy... the kind that as soon as you think about them, you get this shit grin on your face and everyone around you is like "What the hell are you thinking?" HAHAHA!

That whole day was intern check-in and it was a CRAZY DAY! It was really fun though b/c all the staff worked together all day. There are pictures of it online you can look at everyone on there. There was a cook out and everyone worked really hard. I love my staff b/c everyone gives 110% in everything they do and they just work really hard and they are so quick to help! IT'S SO GREAT! I THINK YOU ALL ARE AB-FAB!!!!! :-D

After intern housing had calmed down for a bit, we had all planned to go out... however, it didn't exactly work out like that. Everyone backed out except for Nigel and me. So we went out. We went to this local gay bar for a few "after long day/chill-laxin" drinks called Suite. There weren't a lot of people in there but the few that were a little old. It was funny. But Nigel knew the bar tender and the cool thing was... He plays/played Simba in the on tour Broadway musical The Lion King. He was pretty cute. (Not as cute as Conor though ;-)) Well after a few drinks they had this "DRAG QUEEN" perform. S/he performed three songs... the first one was My Prerogative by Brittany Spears. Now, for those of you that don't know, Brittany Spears' number one fan ever is my roommate Nigel. And this drag queen was AWFUL! s/he didn't know all the words to any of the songs and s/he could not dance and did not have good dance moves at all. Nigel and I were GREATLY disappointed! We were just like... what are you doing, NO! After that though, we just went to bed... after a long day... it was DEF time for sleep!

Fun Friday - When can I do it again!?!?!

OK, so here's what happened...

SO as you may have read already Conor was in town, so that already made it a GREAT weekend. I haven’t really done anything that great and exciting this week at all because I have been working the late shift and the housing conference desk. I start work at 1:00 in the afternoon and I don't get off when I close the office at 11:00PM. So there didn't leave much room for going out during the week. I did go out every now and then to the Heights with my roommate Nigel throughout the week. Him and I also just hung out at the flat during the week... it was a chill week outside of work.

Anywho...

I was able to get the evening off on Friday, thanks to my great co-worker, Erin ;-). That’s the day that Conor and I went on a date...

It was just suppose to be dinner and a movie, but it turned into an 11 hour date that started with lunch and a walk down to 96th street and in central park and down Madison ave on the east side

*~*~*~*~*~*~*SIDE NOTE - This part of the east side is where the RICH people live in NY, so it is where all the really expensive stores are. It was just really cool to do that. It made you feel like you were high society. HAHA, i don't know, it was just funny.

Ok... After walking from 116th street and to the other side of the island and down to 40something Street... we took the subway down to South Sea Port because I have never been and walked around the stores there. It was also interesting too because it is Fleet Week here in NYC currently and there are sailors ALL OVER MANHATTAN!!! Oh em gee!! So there were all these ships and stuff lined up all over the place and other boats... it was just really cool to see a bunch of stuff I would never normally see...especially in Boone. But we walked around there for a while and then eventually made our way back uptown a bit to go to dinner in Little Italy. At this point, i had NO IDEA where we were going to for dinner because he would not tell me... it was surprise, which of COURSE made it even more super exciting! He took me to dinner at this AMAZING restaurant off Mulberry and Grand... YUMM!! From there we headed up town to 66th and Broadway to see Madagascar. CUTE ASS MOVIE. And because it is about Animals from Central Park Zoo, there were a lot of jokes about New York in it, and I didn't get a lot of them, but Conor was there to explain them to me (But we can't all be from the Jersey side of the cesspool, right? ;-))... so it did make it more humorous. Funny morning

So this morning, Conor was coming back into the city from jersey. He and I have done a LOT of talking on the phone and online this week. Our conversations are just really hilarious; all the time... it’s funny... like haha.

Any who... this morning was funny...

I was going to surprise him and go down to Penn station and meet him outside the subway stop that he would have to take to get to Columbia (the 1 2 3)..... Any way... his train was running late, b/c he was supposed to get here around 10:30... So after waiting there for an hour and 20 min... he sends me a text message that says "OK I'm in the station waiting for subway." I was like...what, noooooooooo... how did I miss him... so I RUUUUUN to the uptown subway train RIGHT as the train was leaving the platform... and then I had to wait for another, and then i sent him a text that said..."I just left penn station... I was going to be fun and meet you there." and by the time I got to Columbia.. he left me a voice mail that said he felt really bad. So it was just really funny. Stuff like that always happens to me. HAHA

But we eventually met up and hung out all day and got lunch and messed around the city. Great afternoon, then I had to come into work until 11..but thats ok, I still love my job and I gotta earn the cash, ya mean?

YAY CONOR! :-)

Tom's

So not much has really gone on in the past couple days. I moved into my apt and I LOVE my roommate for the summer, he is an awesome person. I went out with him and one of his friends last night to the heights again and him and I really bonded and got to know a little more about each other. I've worked really odd hours the past couple days. It's my week to work the evening shift so that also makes me the manager on duty. So lots of phone calls at night from the staff. But that’s ok, b/c I LOOOOOVE them all. After work tonight, Nigel (my roommate) who was also working the night shift at the conference desk, we went to eat a nice juicy burger at a local place down the street, at 11:00 at night. And the fun thing was, it is the restaraunt they film for the show Seinfeld... HOW COOL, right? So that makes me somewhat famous? HAHA, just kidding

And for the record - it's "TOM'S RESTRAUNT" ;-)

And for some ODD reason, I keep sleeping past NOON... wtf? That was pretty much it, just lots of work related stuff going on right now. Definitely check back later... it's going to be a GREAT WEEKEND!

It's only been 4 days and it just keeps getting better!

I LOVE NEW YORK!!!!

OK, this city... built for me! I think every second that I have spent here so far has been unbelievably AWESOME!

I've worked SO MUCH, and it's ok because I LOVE IT! A couple nights ago I went out with Bri, Nathan, and Niomee (not sure if I spelled her name right). We walked, and I do mean WALKED, all over midtown and downtown (around the village) for most the night going to bars and hanging out around there. It was fun to be able to just walk around New York with fun people and just be in that "New York state of mind." After that, around 1 am, we went to Roxy in Time Square for some cheese cake. For those of you that don't know what Roxy is... it's like the Cheesecake factory but, in my opinion, 5 times better. They give you the BIGGEST slices of cheesecake in the world and they are SOOOOOO GOOD! Then from there I went home b/c I live pretty far up on the island of Manhattan and it takes about 20 min to get home from times square/42nd street (ps - I live off of 116th st)

Yesterday and last night totally rocked my socks!!!I worked in the morning, helping Lindsay out at the conference desk, getting things all situated for some wedding parties we had coming in and checking out this weekend. Well that morning I met Laura and Conor. Laura is someone that I have been talking to back and forth via email about Columbia and stuff about the area b/c she was the ACUHO-I intern for Columbia last summer. So unexpected to meet her, but she was in NY visiting kids from Columbia. This guy named Conor was also with her and the 4 of us (Lindsay included) just chatted for about an hour and then I went home to NAP! I took like a 4 hour nap, I was dead tired. I got up, took a shower and become very bored. Laura had given me her cell phone number and her and Conor invited me to go out with them later that night. So I said, yeah that'd be cool. Well I called her and they were sitting out on the lawn outside of Hartly Hall and I went out to join them after I got off the phone with my family. SIDE NOTE - MY WHOLE FAMILY IS COMING TO NYC JUNE 23rd AND I AM SO SUPER EXCITED!!!!! So when I got out there, Conor and Laura were sitting out there and with them were two girls that I work with, Kristina and Nicole. They are AWESOME girls. We stayed out there for about an hour and then went and ate lunch at this awesome little sub shop down the street from the school. We all then went back to Nicole and Kristina's apt and ate and hung out for a while and watched Sex and the City. IT WAS SO MUCH FUN! Then about at about 9:30 we were like... LET’S GO OUT. So we all got ready and pre gamed and another girl named Mel and some guy named Austin joined us and we all went to this FREAKIN AWESOME bar near Columbia called Heights. I bought 2 margaritas and a tequila sunrise and my bar tab was $10!!!!! We all sat around having drinks and making great conversation. It was awesome. Conor and I really started talking a lot and really getting to know each other and a little flirty. He is SO NICE!!! So sweet and totally all about me and wanted to know more about where I was from and my back ground. We just some GREAT conversation! :-) I LOVE THE PEOPLE I WORK WITH and I LOVE THIS CITY! They are all really awesome, and I have just met So many GREAT people. It was just an ALL around GREAT night with an AWESOME ending! So now I am about to go upstairs (I just moved into my apt in East Campus Hall) and have dinner with Kristina and Nicole, we're getting Chinese and watching desperate house wives. My apt is so awesome. I live on the 16th floor and I get a great view of the upper west side and all of Columbia’s campus. IT’S PRETTY! It would be nicer if it wasn't raining today. My roommate is really cool too. He is nice and we just met like 12 hours ago and have already made plans to hang out. We just really get along really well!
